Lucas Garland, HEAD OF PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Background

Lucas oversees the product development of Thomson Reuters Indices. He is responsible for distributing proprietary index content throughout the Thomson Reuters family of products and vetting proposed relationships with third party index providers.

Prior to his current role, Lucas was Global Product Manager for Lipper Indices. He helped lead the exploration of the new index businesses for Thomson Reuters in such areas as the development of passive benchmarks, investable actively managed indices, and the expansion of its calculation services.

Lucas has written for and been cited in several top publications including the FTFM, Investment Week, Investor’s Business Daily, Fund Strategy, Funds Europe, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, and Ignites.

Lucas holds an MS in Finance from the University of Colorado

Andrew Clark, CHIEF INDEX STRATEGIST

Background

Andrew Clark is Chief Index Strategist for Thomson Reuters Indices. In this role Andrew is responsible of developing new index methodologies, vetting index methodologies proposed by partners of Thomson Reuters Indices, chairing the Thomson Reuters Index Action Committee, and being the chief "evangelist" for the Thomson Reuters Index business.

As evangelist, Andrew has made appearances on CNBC in the U.S., BNN in Canada, MSNBC in Hong Kong, CCTV in mainland China, CNNfN, Reuter’s Insider and ETNow. He has spoken at many industry, economic, and mathematical conferences where he has either presented original research on a variety of topics in financial mathematics, discussed trends in the markets, or presented novel investment and index construction ideas.

Andrew has won several awards for his research – most recently the Most Innovative Index Award from IBA/IMN in 2009 – and was singled out at the 2010 International Symposium of Forecasters for the originality of his research into stock index volatility. His research work has appeared in Physica A, Quantitative Finance, European Physical Journal B and several other academic journals. A recent book edited by John Guerard – Handbook of Portfolio Construction – includes a chapter authored by Andrew.
