The Lipper Fund Awards program highlights funds that have excelled in delivering consistently strong risk-adjusted performance, relative to peers.
The Lipper Fund Awards are awarded to funds in 21 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Lipper designates award-winning funds in most individual classifications for the three-, five-, and ten-year periods. In addition, the Lipper Fund Awards program spotlights fund families with high average scores for all funds within a particular asset class or overall.
Lipper Introduces Hedge Fund Awards in 2008
This year we are extending our global fund awards program to include awards for the leading hedge funds across European, offshore and North American fund domiciles. Two hedge fund award events will be held. The first is in London on March 4 and will recognize leading European and offshore hedge funds.
The second, for funds domiciled in North America, will take place in New York on April 9.
To be eligible for one of the Lipper Hedge Fund Awards, managers must submit year end prices by Feb. 8, 2008. Hedge funds must also have reported to the Lipper TASS and Lipper Global Fund Databases for at least 12 consecutive months of price history including December 2007.
In line with Lipper's existing mutual fund award methodology, awards will be given to those hedge funds with the highest Lipper Leader rating for consistent, or effective, return value within each eligible Lipper Global Classification for hedge fund strategies. The calculation period for the awards extends over the twelve months ending Dec. 31, 2007.

Lipper's Performance Achievement Certificates (PAC)
Lipper's Performance Achievement Certificates are awarded to funds with returns that topped their Lipper category over one or more time periods: one, five, 10 or 15-year (depending on universe). Certificates are awarded for all Lipper Classifications and for the overall fund universe. Open-end funds, closed-end funds and variable insurance products are considered for awards. Lipper Performance Achievement Certificate award parameters are listed in the Methodology Document.
